about a week ago marked not only my second year being on deviantart, but my second year as a digital artist. ive been drawing nonstop with my tablet ever since i got it 2 years ago on christmas, and i can say that it was definitely the best gift Ive ever recieved /___/ thanks mom santa lmao

2010
December: Just got my tablet and stayed up night and day getting used to it, and figuring out how sai and layers work. Even though i used like only 2 or 3 layers and thought that using 7 was ridiculous LOL, i also drew only girls wow

2011
January: dropped the girls and went to drawing dudes again. still had sketchy lineart, and i thought my anatomy was so boss let me tell you, also started learning how to get smooth lineart

February: tried different methods of shading and color and added more color variety. my whole goal was to try to draw like the anime pictures you find on google.

March: the first picture was a milestone for me and i was proud of that shit for so long and my parents were really impressed. still obviously trying out new styles

April: started getting confident and racking in commissions (lord i dont know how omg). still trying styles, and also attempted painting

May: there was legit only one picture that came from this month. mainly because i was on vacation in florida and spent any spare time on this one picture. for those of you who want to see the full picture -> [link]

June: got lazy on the next few months, only taking commissions and did a lazy ass job on them

July: started putting more effort to commissions and the start of finding my own eye style, then went back to drawing my own characters

August: attempted to rip-off aishaneko's style in the first picture. this is when i discovered her and became majorly influenced by her and a few other artists. Started combining styles to look for my own. Also created my first stage persona Rex, and the first concept of Sam

September: Start of me wanting to make less anime and more toony. Still pretty much anime, just more "stylized" and less cliche and shit. also fell in love with a coloring method

October: became obsessed with drawing my persona and Sam. Still trying too hard to pull away from total anime

November: the last two were commissions and for some reason weren't drawn in my usual style so they look odd /__/

December: I got sooooo lazy and spent all my time drawing that beauty in the corner.

2012
January: cheesus crust found another new style, and spent ENORMOUS amounts of time on pictures, which were pretty much commissions at the time. talented artists started noticing me and watching me and i flipped the fuck out /_ / also finally created an eye style that i became obsessively selfish over (???)

February: Separated Sam and Rex, and Sam became his own character. Poe was created and I created my new Malicious-Rex dA account and switched over.

March: More alterations on Sam, tried developing a slimmer and stylized anatomy type style. it failed terribly. gave a try at semi-realism, and got commissioned by demiseman and nearly shat my pants. the first pixel image i cropped to use as my icon, i took a commission for an icon like that and it sparked a rebellion that launched my shit on the front page. I shouldve included that in here.

April: idefk what happened this year, i had the god awful idea to combine pixel with brush while drawing, and continued to test out different styles but it all failed.

May: jesus christ i went crazy with eyes and they took up 75% of the head. also started adding random blots of color on pictures and abused shines

June: after gradually getting worse the past few months, i pulled out my first 200% effort digital painting. yes it was lineless. I actually did it in a stupider way until i found out how other people painted digitally, nonetheless i was proud of it and i still am, though it may not be perfect. It was a huge jump.

July: more hardworked Zelda fanart, sam obsession, and formed the best friendship ever with =3o2 and =Angibutt

August: Back to refining my style

September: A leap into a different direction this year and started playing with softer brushes and colors and the luminosity abuse began.

October: Didn't really put that much effort into art. everything was small doodles or drawings pretty much

November: Started really getting into furaffinity and anthros oops. Also practiced a different painting technique that *Advanced-Random told me to try, and loved it /__/

December: shit was just random this month. caught between commissions and personal doodles. 3rd one is my favorite though and next year im gonna work on practicing that style adgdfjj


TL;DR: improvement over 2 fucking years and pulled away from insane anime stage to more of a stylized cartoonime anime style I guess.
also i improved, then got worse, then improved slightly, then got lazy
